Many will know that the vintage and rare signpost at the Crown (pictured) was knocked over by a car on Thursday afternoon (28th November 2024). We hope all involved in the collision are OK.

We understand that the Highways Department were informed about the damaged post on the 28th. On Saturday 30th Horwich Heritage moved the post to a place of safety, fearful that the post might disappear as it had been on the ground since the collision.

On inspection the post is badly damaged and its touch and go if our iconic sign post can be repaired. Also, the directional pointers (Bolton, Chorley etc) were not with the post. It is possible that the highways department have these but as of Saturday 30th we dont know where they are. Does anyone know of their whereabouts, please let Horwich Heritage know or contact the Parish Council via our contact form.
